Convert M4V to MP4

Free, no watermark, no signup, and your file never leaves your device.

M4V is Apple's variant of the MP4 container, used by iTunes and some Apple apps. The video and audio inside are usually the same H.264 and AAC that MP4 uses, which is good news: converting to MP4 is often just a matter of rewrapping the existing streams into the standard container, with no re-encoding and no quality loss.

The one thing that stops a plain rewrap is DRM. M4V files bought from iTunes can carry FairPlay protection, which cannot be removed here and is not something this tool will attempt. For your own unprotected M4V files, though, conversion is quick and keeps the original quality intact.

Questions people ask

Will converting M4V to MP4 lose quality?
Usually not. When the M4V already contains H.264 video, the stream is copied straight into an MP4 with no re-encoding, so quality is identical. Only files that need a codec change are re-encoded.
Why won't my M4V file convert?
If it was purchased from iTunes, it may have FairPlay DRM, which this tool cannot and will not remove. Personal, unprotected M4V files convert without trouble.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your device, and nothing is sent to any server.
